How does the GPS tracking system work?
GPS satellites send out coordinates to your GPS device, the data is transferred to the Find & Follow server. Our system handles this data and puts your location on the map.
What type of mapping do Find & Follow use?
Find & Follow use Google mapping which includes a standard map, satellite, and hybrid (a map layered over a satellite image).
What happens to the information?
Data with all your tracks and locations is stored within the Find & Follow GPS tracking software and available to you only. It’s your decision whether to share it with someone else or not.
How often does Find & Follow locate my vehicle?
Your vehicle is located every 30 sec while it is in motion.
How often is my data transferred to your GPS tracking site?
By default, the interval between transfers of GPS data is 30 seconds, but you can change it in the settings of your GPS tracker.
What information is transmitted by the GPS tracking unit?
Each GPS device can record the following information:
• Date
• Time
• Location
• Speed
• Direction of travel
• Battery State
How long does Find & Follow store my information?
The Find & Follow server keeps all messages received from your GPS tracker for a period of three months. However, you are able to export data from the software.
Can I have a GPS tracking device installed in my car, so I will be able to track it?
Yes, there are a number of Find & Follow GPS trackers that are specifically designed for installing in a vehicle to track it.
Can I use the Find & Follow tracking service to track all the vehicles or trucks of my company?
Yes, you can monitor up to 1000 vehicles at any time using our software. Find & Follow has its own data centre and is offering corporate GPS tracking solutions for companies all over the world.
I do not want my drivers to be aware of the GPS tracker in the vehicle. Can I install it and track without them knowing?
The answer is ‘yes’. A good installation is virtually undetectable by the vehicle user. However, we recommend to our clients to inform the drivers that the vehicle has a GPS tracking device installed, the reaction has been positive if the benefits of having such a device are explained. It provides reduced operational cost, enhanced security for both the vehicle and the driver and improves customer service.
What if my driver speeds or goes outside the geofence and I am not at my computer?
You can elect to receive alerts to your mobile phone. It will explain what the alert it is for and their location. For speeding it will say what the current speed is. For breaking a geofence, it will give the location to within 15 metres, time the geofence was breached and current speed.
How many alert recipients are supported?
Depending on the device there are a minimum of three, and up to an unlimited number of alert recipients for each device. The recipient will also receive an email message with the alert.
Are the devices difficult to install?
All the Find and Follow devices are easy to install for somebody who is handy. The installation guides provide easy to follow, step by step instructions. Most customers are able to install their tracker in under an hour. If you are not particularly handy then most automotive electricians or car alarm places can install the GPS tracker for you.
What is involved in maintaining the GPS equipment?
There is no maintenance required. Once the GPS tracking device is installed, you are on your way to increased efficiency and productivity.
What is the battery life of the Personal Tracker device?
The standard battery will last between 8 to 24 hours. A long life battery lasting 7 days can be purchased for the Personal Tracker. If this device is required for permanently tracking a vehicle, the Hard Wire Cable Kit can be purchased which will enable the devise to utilise the vehicles battery.
